1(1)cinnamon stickoptional (ground cinnamon works too)
Instructions
Wash, peel, and chop 10 apples into 1" pieces. I like to use a variety of apples so their flavors and textures mix.
Put the apples and cinnamon stick into a large pot. Sprinkle the water and brown sugar* over the top and stir with a wooden spoon to combine.
With your burner on medium/low heat, cook the apples for 15 minutes with the lid on. Remove the lid and cook for another 45-75 minutes, stirring frequently. If you prefer your applesauce to be softer/harder, cook for more/less time.
Notes
*Less brown sugar for a tarter applesauce/more for sweeter (I use about ½ cup+2 Tbsp). Start with less and add more until you achieve your preferred sweetness. It may vary depending on which apples you use!Let applesauce cool completely before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. It can also be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months. The provided nutrition information is an estimate, the calorie accuracy is not guaranteed.
