Orange Chocolate Cake

with Ganache

Easy, moist single layer chocolate cake flavored with orange zest!

Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Whisk together the sugar, orange zest, oil, kefir and egg.

Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ones until the flour streaks have mostly disappeared.

Stir hot water into the batter and then pour it into an 8 inch round cake pan (greased and lined with parchment). Bake for ~30 minutes at 325°F.

Also makes 12-14 cupcakes!

Make the chocolate ganache by pouring hot heavy whipping cream over high quality chocolate. Let it sit for 5 minutes then stir until smooth.

Spread chocolate ganache over the cooled cake. You can use a different frosting if you'd like!

Decorate it with candied oranges, or leave it as is. It will be delicious either way!
